Websites for charities

Engage and grow your supporters online with an effective, mobile-optimised website that you can edit yourself

I’ve been creating websites for charities and non-profit organisations for over 10 years. More recently I have launched a new website for the British Youth Band Association (BYBA).

As BYBA are a registered charity I was able to support them in creating a fresh website design that was easy to navigate. It is also clean, not too busy with too much information on one page. The website is also mobile responsive so works very well on mobile phones or tablets.

The charity was also paying for web hosting and I helped them to get free web hosting and never have to pay for it again. This was a huge saving for the charity, where cash is tight and any savings is a bonus.

Helping charities organise their content online

I was approached by Michael on behalf of BYBA to update the existing website. The website was several years old and had several different volunteers maintaining and updating the website. The new administrators of the website were finding it difficult to quickly update content, adding new blogs and photos.

With the new website Michael and his team have full access to the website and can quickly update with new content. And easily be able to embed Youtube or Vimeo content into any post or page.

Other smart benefits of the new website is having a private members area, and an online shop to sell merchandise. You can read the case study here.

Providing additional help

As part of the service I provide to all my clients I also helped with:

  • Setting up their social media accounts on the website.
  • Added additional security to the website with a SSL certificate (HTTPS://).
  • Setting up of PayPal to take donations and purchase of merchandise.
  • Event management with a calendar.
  • Create and manage their Google accounts to;
    • Understand who is visiting their website with Google Analytics.
    • Manage their Google Business account.
    • Ensure the correct sitemap XML is associated with the website and registered with search engines.

Ongoing website support

Supporting the charity once the website was live. I’m currently helping with:

  • Full daily backups of the website.
  • Uptime monitor to find out quickly if the website goes down.
  • Daily security checks against viruses and malicious attacks.
  • Adding new blogs to the website.
  • Creating application forms for their membership to join the charity and accepting online payments.

Would you like me to help you design and build a new website for you? Then please get in touch. I’d be more than happy to assist.

I offer generous discounts for charities and non-profit organisations.

Thanks Tony.
